fantasy dinner party

Erin over at Blue-Eyed Bride
asked the question
"What 10 people would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?".
I thought it would be fun to play along.
 So, here is my list!

1. Ronald Reagan--The Great Communicator, somebody has to keep the conversation going.
2. George W. Bush-- I just love him! Sorry, not sorry!
3. Ann Coulter-- I want to be her when I grow up.
4. JK Rowling-- She wrote Harry Potter...enough said.
5. Kate Middleton-- It is a requirement to have royalty at a dinner party.
6. Craig Ferguson-- To keep everybody laughing.
7. Felicia Day-- The quirky queen of sci-fi.
8. Zachary Levi-- We would fall in love & get married...I am sure of it!
9. Nathan Fillion-- He would probably pull a fun prank on everybody.
10. Adam Baldwin-- Sarcasm covered!

Who would you invite??

america's favorite pastime

I know in the South
college football is king.
And as much as I love my
Florida State Seminoles,
I am a baseball girl.
Specifically, a Braves baseball girl!

There are just some things I love about baseball.
I love the traditions & superstitions.
I love the sound of a homerun.
I love the rivalries.
I love that there is a stat for everything.
I love watching baseball every night for months.
I love the 7th inning stretch.

Every year, my friends and I
try to go to 2 or 3 Braves games a year.
And the experience of baseball is even better at the ballpark.
Sadly, my favorite baseball player, Chipper Jones,
is retiring this year.
Watching the Braves just will not be the same,
without Chipper guarding third.
He will be missed!

What is your favorite thing about Baseball?

run like the wind

Last summer I started the C25k program.
I really like the idea of the program,
but I really did not have great results using it.

I just could never get the distance.
I could never actually run the full 3.2 miles straight through.
I did complete my first 5k,
but I did not run the entire time.

Between frustration with my progress
and the knees of an 80 year old
I just kind of gave up on running in November.
I was still walking everyday
but i was not even attempting to run anymore.

This past April
I bought a new pair of running shoes
and decided to attempt running again.
I decided not to try the C25k program again.

Instead, I just started running.
I would run until I stopped
and then I would walk the rest of the distance.
So, far this method is working for me.

I am consistently running 1.5 miles everyday!
I am still have not hit the 3.2 mile mark yet;
but I feel like I am making better progress than I did last year.

Do any of you runners out there have any running tips for me?

playing catch up

Since my unintended blog break,
Not much has changed in my life.
Still, I thought I would write an update post.

My big news is that
I finally found a job!
Hallelujah!
{insert a choir of angels here}

I am still underemployed;
but I am super thankful!
I know a lot of people are hurting in the job department right now.
It is my first "grown up" job.
I have benefits, a retirement plan, paid sick/vacation days,
and all that good stuff.

Oh, and I have my very own office!!
Please ignore the mess in these pictures.
I did not feel like putting everything in place
just for these quickly taken pics.

I am waiting on the maintenance people to come
and hang all of my frames on my office walls
{that is what is in those boxes}
and then I will have to post pics
of my completely decorated office!

My roommates and I took a trip to
Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure.

The highlight of the trip was
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
It was just AMAZING!

If you are planning on going,
the early admission is totally worth the price.
We got into WWOHP an hour before the park opened.
My roommates and I actually rode one of the rides by ourselves.
I mean we were seriously the only 3 people on the ride!
How cool is that?!
To put that in perspective,
we went back at the end of the day,
because one of my friends wanted to go through
Hogwarts Castle again.
It was wall-to-wall people.
And the lines for all of the rides
were 3+ hours long.
Yeah, we did not go through the castle again.

I also
loved, loved, loved
Seusslanding!
If you have read my blog for any length of time
you know I am slightly obsessed with Dr. Seuss.
So, I naturally loved Seusslanding.

This part of the park is obviously geared more for children,
but I loved the architecture & decor.
They even had shrubbery shaped into various Seuss characters.
Just awesomesauce!

The roommates and I had a caricature drawn of the 3 of us.
The guy who drew it was super nice & funny!
I joked that he was going to make me look
like a chipmunk & of course, he did.
But it was a fun souvenir to have from the trip.
It now hangs in a place of honor in our living room!

I received a sewing machine for Christmas
and have been {slowly} teaching myself to sew.
I have completed lots of throw pillows.
I have the sewing square things down pat!

I am also working on my very 1st quilt.
It is a queen-size quilt.
Now that I am getting into it
I realize that starting out with a queen size
might have been a bad idea.
But "go big or go home" right?!
It took my roommates & I 5 hours to lay out the pattern.
They have threatened me with
bodily harm if I do not finish this quilt.

Whew!
This post was longer than I thought it would be.
If you made it all the way through
You Are a Trooper!
So, that's is what has been happening in my life lately.

Anything new & exciting happening in your life?

hey y'all

Hello Blogland!
Yeah, it has been 8 months since my last post.
Talk about procrastination!

I have a very serious question for all of my blog friends.
Well, the ones I have left anyway!

What do you call this game?

I grew up in South Georgia.
About as south as you can get.
And I have always called this game...
Bean Bag Toss.

Now I live close to Savannah.
Which is still considered South Georgia.
But up here they call this game...
are you ready for it?
CORNHOLE.

I mean seriously!
What kind of name is Cornhole?!
Bean Bag Toss
is MUCH better.
I mean the object of the game is to
Toss a Bean Bag
into the hole.
Self explanatory!!

What does the name Cornhole tell you?
Absolutely nothing.
Well, nothing good anyway!

So, can y'all solve this debate for me?
What is this game called in your part of the world?
