fun confessions

for a couple of fun confessions.

I am obsessed right now with Fruit Loops cereal WITH Marshmallows.
Where was this stuff when I was a kid?!
I have seriously had this for supper more than once in the past couple of weeks.

I turn 30 on Monday and it does not bother me one bit.
All of my friends that have turned 30
or are close to turning 30 are
freaking the hell out.
And I am over here like ...
what's so bad about 30.
I guess my philosophy is that I cannot prevent turning 30
why freak out about it.
So, you know ... logic!

This also means I get to eat Chipotle at some point this weekend ... and ice cream cake ... win, win!
{Sorry Lauren} ;)

Have any of you freaked out when turning a certain age?

And yes, I know these confessions have absolutely nothing to do with each other.
I do have random in my blog name for a reason.

the one where the bestie turns 30

Today is my best friends 30th birthday!
To celebrate this milestone birthday,
I threw her a backyard birthday bash this past Saturday.
The theme was blue & green chevron.

The bestie's favorite dessert is red velvet.
The star of the party was the dessert table.
It, of course, had a red velvet theme.
I baked a red velvet cheesecake cake, red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese filling, red velvet brownies with white chocolate buttercream, red velvet cake donuts, and red velvet white chocolate chip cookies.
Red Velvet EVERYTHING!

It ended up being a fabulous party!
Great food, great music, and, most importantly, great friends!

Get ready for a picture overload.
Unfortunately, in all the madness Saturday, I forgot to charge my camera.
So, all of the pics are from cell phones and the quality is not that great.

fun with friends

The last two weeks at work were as crazy as expected.
Hopefully, it calms down next week.
This weekend was pretty awesome though.
It was my close friend, Shan's, birthday Saturday.

And we celebrated at our go to spot...
the beach!

We got to the beach early before all the crowds.
The waves were massive Saturday because of Hurricane Issac.
The surfers were out in full force.
Which is not usual for Tybee.

After soaking up lots of vitamin D
and getting whiplash from the waves,
we went back to the beach house and admired Shan's cake.
Her husband baked & decorated her cake.
We were all very impressed by his skills!

We went to Shan's favorite restaurant on Tybee,
The Crab Shack.

I had never been there before because I am not a seafood eater.
But it was a lot of fun.
The place is huge and just has some weird elements.
Like baby alligators and exotic birds.

This was our view at supper!

Seriously, who cares how crappy your week was
when you can enjoy a view like that.

stress relief

Baking is my favorite form of stress relief.
There is something about the process that
just calms my mind.
My little sister's birthday was at the beginning of July
and I had a lot of fun baking for her.

She requested my Cream-filled Red Velvet Cupcakes
instead of a birthday cake.

I also wanted to try a new recipe I found on Pinterest:
Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies.
{talk about alliteration}

I LOVE anything with cream cheese in it
and these cookies did not disappoint.
They do have more of a cakey texture to them
and I was not thrilled with that.
But they had a great flavor!

I had some extra cream cheese icing from the cupcakes.
And I discovered something heavenly!
I made a cream cheese chocolate chip cookie sandwich.
{sigh}
I do not even want to know how many calories were in that concoction.

I am dreaming of baked goods right now.
Between my sister's birthday & mine in early August
I am doing the "No Junk Food Challenge."
It is really not that hard because I do not eat
that many sweets.
Not that you can tell from this post.
The hardest thing to give up is
peanut butter & nutella.
I think I will be having a PB&J for my birthday lunch!

weekend/bday recap

Remember to enter the
Birthday Giveaway here

Thanks so much for all of the birthday wishes on my last post!
I had a spectacular birthday.
I do not like a big fuss made about my bday, low-key is my motto.
So, my awesome friends took me to Cracker Barrel for supper and then we had cake and presents at the house!

Saturday night one of my friends, Britt, was in a
Miss Georgia preliminary pageant.
This was only the second pageant I have ever been to and apparently it was the longest one in the history of the world.
{not that I would exaggerate or anything} ;)
Instead of crowning just 1 queen, they crowned
4 queens in one night.
Yeah, that took 4 hours.

{via}

Despite the competition being so long, it was actually
kind of fun to watch.
Not that I really understand the whole appeal of
competing in pageants.
It seems like far too much work for me. ;)
Afterwards we went to eat at Huddle House {the only place open} and Britt tried to eat everything
she could not have the past few weeks.
She did a respectable job at eating all that food
but she was so sick later.
Unfortunately, she did not win this one but she still has several opportunities to win one!

What did you do last weekend?
