apartment tour - main living area

I moved into my new apartment in February.
So, I figured it was time to give my blog friends a tour.
I actually took the pictures when I hosted wine club in April.
I know I am a procrastinator. :)

I took way too many pictures.
In order to prevent picture overload,
I am going to split the tour between two posts.
This first post will cover the main living area:
kitchen, living room, & bathroom.
The second post will cover the bedroom & library.

Now on to the pictures ...
My kitchen and living area are one big open space,
which I love.

Living room details ...
Library through the right door,
bedroom through the left door

You can see the laundry room beyond the couch

Bathroom ...

I am still in the process of decorating.
I think I have finally figured out what to do with the wall above the couch.
I just have to find all of the pieces I am looking for.

Stay tuned for part 2 of the tour.

SUYL: all about hair

Today I am linking up with Kelly's Korner
Show Us Your Life series.
This week the topic is
all about hair.

I am a pretty low maintenance girl.
My favorite outfit is jeans & a tshirt,
I only wear makeup when necessary,
and dressing up is a hassle. ;)

However, my hair is pretty high maintenance.
I have always had long hair.
Currently, it is a little more than halfway down my back.
I think the key to having long hair is to have healthy hair.
I always get comments on how healthy my hair looks
and my stylist says I have the healthiest head of hair she works on.

Now, I think part of this is genetics.
I have naturally straight hair so I do not have to use a lot of heat on it daily.
Oh how I have always wanted curly hair.

But the other part is product.
I use quality products on my hair and probably spend way too much money.
I figure it balances out with the money I save on makeup.
I have also never colored my hair either so I save on that expense as well.
I have used the same products on my hair for about 5 years or so now.
I found the perfect mix for my hair!

Here is my laundry list of hair products that I use daily:

S Factor Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner

It's A 10 Leave-In Conditioner Plus Keratin

S Factor Smoothing Lusterizer

S Factor Dream Drops

I am always interested in hair products other people swear by.
What is your favorite hair product?

picture practice: summer

Today I am linking up with
Kelli at Just Beachy
for Picture Practice.

This week's theme was summer.
So far, this summer has been full of weekend pool days.
The only tolerable way to deal with the South GA heat & humidity.

With a little bit of grilling and summer storm watching,
it has been a great summer so far!

How have you been spending your summer so far?

confession time

Confession time:
I do not really like wine.
Yet I am in a wine club ... and I enjoy it!
May Wine Club
I just cannot get over the taste of wine or beer.
I think this is mainly caused by the fact that I did not have my first sip of alcohol until I was 26.
So, I did not do the high school or college partying.
I never acquired the taste for it.

Like the majority of people in the world,
D really enjoys wine.
One of our close friends (Ivy) does as well.
D and Ivy would talk about different wines all of the time,
so they talked about starting a wine club.
April Wine Club
{at my apartment}
Wine cub consists of D and I, Ivy & her boyfriend (Ryan),
and Ivy's best friend (Cate) and her boyfriend (Barrett).
And I have to tell you it is a lot of fun.
We meet once a month and try 3-5 different wines each month.
We have themes and everything ...
if I am being honest coming up with the themes is my favorite part of wine club.
I am an event planner at heart!

Out of the 20ish wines we have tasted over the past 5 months,
I have liked a total of ... 1 of them.
And by "like" I mean "could probably finish a glass."

June was a really fun wine club.
The theme was Beer Club for the start of summer.
We tried nine different beers and I actually liked 2 or 3 of them.
Pretty good record.
June Wine Beer Club
D and I have discovered, through trial and error, that I am more of a whiskey person.
October is whiskey month .... yay!
More my Speed!
For me wine club is definitely not about the wine.
It is about getting together with friends, having a good time, and getting to hang out with other couples.
I was a tiny bit skeptical at first because I did not know Cate & Barrett well,
but they are quickly becoming good friends.
As you all know, I do not do well with new people.
Having "couple" friends is new for me and a lot of fun at the same time.

Next month wine club is at my apartment
and the theme is Red, White, & Blue wines for July 4th.
I am so EXCITED!
Fourth of July is my favorite holiday of the year.
The only problem will be keeping my planning under control!

the emma awards

{Source}
This weekend I did something out of my element.
I went to a fancy award ceremony.
I mentioned in this post that D performed in a musical at our local community theater.

Well, I was not exaggerating when I said he performed brilliantly.
The theater has an annual awards ceremony called
The Emma Awards.
D was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance!
He did not win in his category,
but I am BEYOND proud of him.

We both got to dress up and were chauffeured to the red carpet.

I am not a girl that likes to dress up.
Give me jeans and a tshirt any day.
But it was fun.
My friends helped me do my hair and I got to wear a pretty dress.
And D was very handsome.
We made quite the pair.

The best part of my dress was the back.
Isn't it cool?!

Overall, it was a great evening.
And while, I still do not enjoy getting all dolled up I have learned that it is definitely worth it sometimes.
And I always love celebrating D and his accomplishments.
