vegas, baby!

Okay, friends
I need your help.
I will be going to Vegas for a work conference next week.
I will be in sessions from about 8-4 everyday,
but I have the evenings free.
I have never been to Vegas.
So, I need your tips and suggestions.

The conference will be held
and I will be staying
at Mandalay Bay.

Where are the best places to eat?
Things I must do?
Any free/cheap suggestions?
Thanks a bunch!

the dark world

Can I just say ...
I love Marvel movies?!

D and I went to the movies last night and saw
Thor: The Dark World.
In short, it was simply amazing!

I liked this one much more
than the first Thor movie;
and I really like the first one.
But in this one,
we did not have to wade through
all of the set up and world-building stuff.

I also loved the stuff between Thor and Loki.
Can Tom Hiddleston be in all the movies?
Pretty please!
And Darcy is still my favorite bit of comic relief.
Oh yeah, let's not forget ...
Christopher Eccleston.
Perfect casting as the Dark Elf.

Have you seen the movie yet?
If so, what was your favorite part?

weekend recap

Last Week:
Before we get to the weekend,
let's recap last week.
One of the fun things about working at a university
is all of the fun events I get to participate in.
This past Saturday was the
Homecoming game.
So, of course, the week before Homecoming is Spirit Week.
Our office participates every year by
having different dress up days.
Top Left: Magical (Disney) Monday; Top Right: Twin Tuesday; Center: Superhero Wednesday; Bottom Left: Throwback Thursday; Bottom Right: True Blue Friday
Friday:
Now on to the weekend!
D ran sound for a gig Friday night.
The opener was a solo act.
The main band was a mix between rock and rap.
Not really my cup of tea,
but the musicianship was amazing.

Saturday:
D and I went hunting with his family.
We actually slept in a little Saturday morning,
because we got home rather late Friday night.
So, we missed most of the hunting
but did get a little bit in.
No one got a deer Saturday.
We saw a couple but they were out of our range.

Then, that afternoon, we sat around a fire.
It was so relaxing.
Nothing can really beat sitting around a fire
with absolutely nothing to do but enjoy it!

I hope y'all had a great weekend!

weekend shenanigans

The past two weekends have been fairly busy.
Fun, but busy!

The fair was in town a couple of weeks ago.
D and I went on Friday night.
Of course, we had a funnel cake
and we rode the ferris wheel.
The fair also had a really cool area that
had a blacksmith, an old-time general store,
and some antique farm equipment.

Like I have said before,
the fair means the arrival of fall.
Living in South Georgia
the weather can be a bit unpredictable,
so, it cannot be counted on to
determine the seasons. ;)

The next night
D and I, along with his family,
went to a nearby haunted attraction...
Haunted Montrose.
It was a ton of fun!

Last Friday,
my office had it's annual fall festival.
We had games and candy galore.
It was so much fun!
My favorite game was the glow stick bowling.
It looked super cool.
A small sampling of the candy.

Last Saturday,
D and I went to Savannah.
Savannah finally has a Chipotle!!!!!
I cannot express how excited I am about this fact.
I no longer have to drive 3+ hours to get my Chipotle fix.
Granted, D may not be as happy about this development.
I highly doubt he wants to eat at the same restaurant every time we go to Savannah.

Chipotle is right beside a Bruster's (not yet open) ...
ice cream is probably my second favorite food,
right behind Chipotle.
This is food heaven for me.
There is also a Whole Foods in the same shopping center.
So, we browsed around the store some.
They had Biscoff ice cream
and it was divine!
D totally racked up the brownie points Saturday night!

Biscoff ice cream ... Amazing!
After dinner and dessert,
we drove down to River Street and
walked around.
Then we stopped in a restaurant to watch
the second half of the FSU/Miami game.
In which, the Noles dominated!
It was pretty much a perfect night!
