weekend recap: bridal shower

My bridal shower was this weekend and it was fabulous!

My best friend & maid of honor hosted and organized the shower.
The Bestie!

She went above and beyond anything I expected.

Her decor was super cute and fancy.

She had the shower at a local inn and they catered.

I loved celebrating with my friends and family
and getting to introduce D to a few people that he had not met yet.

Hope y'all had a great weekend as well!

weekend recap: wedding season

A couple of weekends ago,
D and I drove to South Carolina to attend the wedding of one of our favorite couples ...
Cate and Barrett.

Cate and Barrett are two of the founding members of Wine Club.
{posts about that here & here}

It was a beautiful wedding held in downtown Beaufort, SC.
The ceremony was at the Beaufort Inn's Garden.
And then the reception was at the Old Bay Marketplace Loft.
Everything was just gorgeous!
It was windy on the rooftop
Cate and Barrett asked D to perform their first dance song.
He was honored to sing that special song for them.
He did an acoustic version of Hold My Hand by Hootie & The Blowfish.
And he did a spectacular job!
{Y'all, I get to marry him!}

The band liked his performance so much that they pulled him up on stage later in the evening to sing with them.
It really does not take much arm-twisting to get D up on a stage.
He is a natural performer.
{D performing Uptown Funk with the band}

After all the excitement on Saturday,
D and I did a bunch of nothing on Sunday.
My introverted brain needed to recharge.
I am so thankful for a guy that just gets that about me!

Hope y'all had a fabulous weekend.

weekend recap: july 4th edition

As many of my long-time readers know,
July 4th is my favorite day of the year.
You can find previous recaps here, here, & here

This weekend started on Thursday for me.
Yay for four day weekends!

Fourth of July mani

Thursday, we celebrated D's little sister, M's birthday.
She turned 19 on Thursday.

Friday, I had lunch with my two best friends.
It was the first time all three of us were able to get together since Christmas.
So, it was way overdue.
We definitely talked wedding plans.
I miss seeing these two every day!

Friday night, D and I had supper with his parents & sister;
then we watched fireworks in a neighboring town.

Saturday, we spent the day at the pool with D's extended family.
We ate way to much but it was a great, relaxing day.
Outfit of the day

I am sometimes called the "kid whisperer." ;)

I baked snickerdoodles & a cheesecake.
Both were a hit with the crowd,
we only had one piece of cheesecake leftover.

Isn't my niece the cutest?!

Saturday night, we went and watched our town's fireworks show.
They did a really great job this year.
It was an excellent show.

Sunday, we had supper with D's family on his dad's side.

Overall, it was such a fabulous weekend.
It definitely lived up to previous year's Fourth weekends.

How did y'all celebrate the Fourth?
For my non-American readers, I hope y'all still had a great weekend too. :D

the one where i turn 30

Today is my 30th birthday!

Since my no annual leave time at work started today,
I celebrated this weekend.
I think it should be against some sort of law to work on your birthday. ;)

Here is a recap of the birthday weekend:
cute birthday weekend mani

Friday:
D took me to The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Savannah.
I love all things military and airplanes ... win, win.

The museum is a smaller one but it is just beautiful.
The Mighty Eight Air Force was instrumental in WWII.
It flew missions from London to Germany.
The had a gorgeous chapel on the grounds made to look like the ones on the English countryside.

And, of course, there were airplanes.

The museum is right in our back yard and I had no idea the significance of the Mighty Eighth.
If you are interested in history at all,
it is definitely worth at least Googling.

For lunch, I got Chipotle!
Then we just went to several stores around Savannah.
Our last stop was Coldstone Creamery.
Ice cream is mandatory on a birthday trip.
We also had to pick up my ice cream cake from Coldstone.

Saturday:
Nothing really birthday related happened on Saturday.
We went to a Couple's Shower for one of D's cousins that is getting married.
We were supposed to swim all day but it was really rainy.
{Not complaining though.
I am the granddaughter of a farmer ... rain is ALWAYS a good thing.}

Sunday:
D's put together a birthday lunch for me with his family.
We had baked ham, Boston butt, baked beans, mac & cheese, bread pudding,
and the Coldstone ice cream cake.

Everything was so delicious.
And I got a lot of really cute presents,
including a super cute wine glass.
Even though I do not drink wine, I put it to good use last night.

We did get to go swimming for a quick minute.
However, the water was freezing from the cloudy days, cool nights, and rain.

After work, I get more presents from the Bestie!
Then D is either cooking me supper at home or
we will go out somewhere.

Overall, turning 30 has been just like any other birthday
and not bad at all.
I am so blessed to have great friends and family.
