random stuff

Is anybody else as excited as I am?

This looks awesomely epic!
It is a shame though that the producers
feel they have to show it in 3D.
And I am trying not to think about how
far they have strayed from the books;)
But, you know, other than that, I am super excited!

On another {more serious} note,
we have been extremely blessed and lucky,
in this part of Georgia,
that the storms ravaging the South
have missed us so far.
We are under a tornado watch until 8pm tonight.
So, it is not completely over yet.
But it looks like we will just get some strong winds & rain.

Please keep the people affected by the storms in your prayers.
There are a lot of towns that were hit hard
and some were completely decimated.

on my playlist

Right now I am LOVING obsessing over
Adele's newest album 21.
I also loved her first album 19.
21 just seems so sad & heartbreaking
but wonderful all at the same time.
And her voice is amazing!

These are my favorite songs off the album . . .
there is a short introduction to the song by
Adele;  the actual song starts at 1:10

I know it seems quite depressing
listening to them back to back.
But I just love it!

What is your favorite song of the moment?

Sorry, for being MIA lately!
I am catching up on all of your lovely blogs.
Only 16 more days until graduation!!!!

------------------------------------------
This weekend I went to the rodeo!
Which is one of my favorite things to do.
On any given weekend in
the great state of Georgia
{heck, make that any state in the south}
you do not have to go far to find a rodeo.
This one was an IPRA event.

The evenings events were:
-bareback riding
-saddle bronc riding
-calf roping
-steer wrestling
-barrel racing
-team roping
-bull riding

I had a blast!
However, the wind was trying to blow us away.
By the end of the night I was COVERED in dirt.
It looked like I had rolled around in the ring with the horses;)
I did not get a lot of good pics because I only have a point & shoot.
I really need to invest in a better camera.
But here are some of my pics.

digging in the dirt

It may be the farmer's blood in me,
but I love digging in the dirt.
I have been so busy lately with school and work
that I have not had time to plant anything this year.
I definitely do not have time for a full-blown flower bed,
so I decided to do some planters for the front porch.
It was so relaxing to sit in the sun and plant my flowers.
Lowe's has a great selection of "springy" flowers
& there is a cute farmer's market down the street from my house
that has a good selection.
Here is the result . . . what do you think?

{before}

{after}

I think I need to add some yellow flowers.
The daises in the blue planter will not last long they are
already on their last leg.
{but they looked so sad all by themselves on the shelf}
So I will probably replace them with some marigolds or something similar.

Speaking of giveaways,
I have been a super lucky girl lately!
In the past month or so I have won 3 giveaways.

The lovely Holly at A Few of My Favorite Things
sent me this awesome package.

{a sweet note, a gift book, Starbucks gift card, & Barnes & Noble gift card}

I got this cute Snobish Designs necklace from
Leeann at Join the Gossip.

I also won this great Sweet Tea Junkie t-shirt from
Miss Sweet Tea at Sweet Tea Diaries.
This shirt is just perfect because
I am a southern girl who loves her sweet tea!

I feel like I am forgetting somebody.
I really do apologize if I did.
Thanks everyone for all of these great giveaways!
It is always fun getting goodies in the mail!

the loot

Finally, the last road trip post . . . promise!
I actually did not buy a lot of souvenirs on this trip.
I did get postcards and magnets from
Texas & Louisiana.
I also got this super cute mask from one of the shops
in the French Quarter.

On our way back to Georgia
we stopped at an outlet mall in Mississippi.
This is where I got into trouble;)

I bought two new pairs of Chucks!!

The mall had a Carter's outlet.
I called my sister to double check the dude's size
and she just laughed when I told her where I was at.
Her advice: try not to go overboard.
I think I showed considerable restraint;)
However, Mr. Nash did score some goodies!
 Too true :-)

 a baseball & fish on his butt . . . just adorable!

I hope y'all enjoyed my road trip recaps.
Maybe it was not too boring for you.
Overall, we had an absolute blast!
And are already planning our next road trip.
We are leaning towards NYC or somewhere in the NW.

new orleans

On our way back to Georgia
we detoured to New Orleans
and spent a night there.

Our hotel:
I thought this was pretty awesome
because I played clarinet in school.

The entrance to the parking garage for the hotel had
these murals painted on the walls.

The view from our hotel room.

We walked from our hotel to the French Quarter.
Here are some pics I took along the way.
