weekend recap: all about the emma awards 2015

This weekend was all about the Emma Awards.
I wrote about last year's Emma's here
The Emma's are our community theater's version of the Tony's.

D was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Little Shop of Horrors and Best Actor for The Importance of Being Earnest.

Friday night, D's cast mates from Earnest had a small pre-Emma's party.
I am not a party person, but it really was a lot of fun.
There were only 8 people at the party, so it was small and we had way to much food.
But we ate and talked until midnight.
I had an in-depth conversation about Doctor Who with some fellow Whovians.
That was my favorite part of the evening. :)

Saturday night,was the awards show.
D won Best Supporting Actor!
I was so proud of him.
He also performed twice during the awards show.
Weirdly, I always get nervous when he preforms and he is calm as a lark.
Of course, I think he should have won both awards he was nominated for, but you can't win them all ... I guess. ;)

Sunday, D and I had a true lazy day.
We watched tv all day
and then had supper with his parents.
When we got home from supper
we had brownies and ice cream for dessert.
The perfect end to a lazy Sunday.

Have any of you ever won an award for anything?

the emma awards

{Source}
This weekend I did something out of my element.
I went to a fancy award ceremony.
I mentioned in this post that D performed in a musical at our local community theater.

Well, I was not exaggerating when I said he performed brilliantly.
The theater has an annual awards ceremony called
The Emma Awards.
D was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance!
He did not win in his category,
but I am BEYOND proud of him.

We both got to dress up and were chauffeured to the red carpet.

I am not a girl that likes to dress up.
Give me jeans and a tshirt any day.
But it was fun.
My friends helped me do my hair and I got to wear a pretty dress.
And D was very handsome.
We made quite the pair.

The best part of my dress was the back.
Isn't it cool?!

Overall, it was a great evening.
And while, I still do not enjoy getting all dolled up I have learned that it is definitely worth it sometimes.
And I always love celebrating D and his accomplishments.

The School of Life

thank you, thank you very much!

Last week, the lovely Holly at Scattered Words gave me an award.
Thanks a million Holly!!
I am still amazed when someone leaves a comment much less gives me an award!

The Rules:
List 10 things you may find interesting about me
Nominate 7 other bloggers to do the same

1. I have been in school for 20 years straight.
I have not taken one break from school since Kindergarten.
Not counting summer breaks.

2. My best friends and I have been best friends for 15 years.
We have known each other for about 16 years,
but we could not stand each other at first.
It is so funny how stuff works out!

3. I have never had a boyfriend or been on a date.
See number one for the reason.
I have always been focused on finishing school first.
And surprisingly enough this fact rarely bothers me.
Every once in a while I will get bummed about it.
But the way I see it I still have plenty of time.
And if God has someone out there for me it will happen
and I will not have to search it out.
I am really happy being single...it suits me!

4. I absolutely, positively hate hot weather.
You will NEVER hear me complain about it being cold.
I was born in South Georgia and heat has always been my enemy.
If you ever hear a Southerner say,
"You get used to the heat."
THEY ARE LYING!!
I especially hate those triple digit days with 100% humidity.
Can you tell I am not looking forward to summer?

5. I am already planning my sister's baby shower.
I know she just found out she was pregnant.
And has not told anyone else but me & her hubby.
I just cannot stop myself.
It is my duty to spoil my nieces (& possibly nephew) rotten.
Even before they are born!

6. WOW! It is really hard thinking of 10 interesting things about me.
I do not find myself particularly interesting!

7. I have read an entire encyclopedia.
I know this screams MAJOR DORK!
One summer, when I was about 10 or 11,
I ran out of books to read at home.
Library day was still a week away.
So, I decided to read our encyclopedia set.
I finished it that week.
Hmm, I wonder if this one & #3 have any links:)

8. Okay, I am out of interesting stuff!!

I pass this award on to all of my wonderful followers!!
Especially, if you read this entire post;)

i would like to thank the academy...

The lovely Jaci @ Perpetual Newlyweds has given me an award!!

This is called The Bogart.
It means you're really going places, Baby.
You'll still be blogging about your great adventures 10 years from now,
and I'll still be reading them.

The Rules:
Link back to the blogger who sent you the award.
Post where you would like to be in 10 years.
Pass this on to 10 other special bloggers.

Where I'd like to be in 10 years:
In 10 years, I want to have a career {besides career student}.
I still do not know what that will look like yet.
Hopefully, I will be working abroad in some capacity.
I am not that concerned with being married and having a family by then.
I guess I am just a loner by nature.
So, 10 years = world traveler!!

I am passing this award onto these lovely ladies:
Jenny May @ The Swede Records
Megan @ Wandering DC

Whew...it was hard picking only ten! I read so many interesting blogs!
