the dark world

Can I just say ...
I love Marvel movies?!

D and I went to the movies last night and saw
Thor: The Dark World.
In short, it was simply amazing!

source
I liked this one much more
than the first Thor movie;
and I really like the first one.
But in this one,
we did not have to wade through
all of the set up and world-building stuff.

I also loved the stuff between Thor and Loki.
Can Tom Hiddleston be in all the movies?
Pretty please!
And Darcy is still my favorite bit of comic relief.
Oh yeah, let's not forget ...
Christopher Eccleston.
Perfect casting as the Dark Elf.

Have you seen the movie yet?
If so, what was your favorite part?

the hobbit

I had to share this
because I am a Tolkien nerd.
I swear by the end of this I was holding back tears.
Jackson is working on another
great set of instant classics!

the end

google

This is my 1st link up
Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesdays
and I decided to dedicate it
to the final Harry Potter movie.

Mel & I have
already purchased our
tickets for the midnight showing.
We are even watching Part 1 in theaters
again Thursday night.
It is going to be a full night
of Harry Potter awesomeness!

I have seen all of the HP movies in theaters
and while I still think
they do not hold a candle to the books
{what movie really does?!}
it has become a tradition.

Who else is seeing the final movie
opening night?

random stuff

Is anybody else as excited as I am?

This looks awesomely epic!
It is a shame though that the producers
feel they have to show it in 3D.
And I am trying not to think about how
far they have strayed from the books;)
But, you know, other than that, I am super excited!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On another {more serious} note,
we have been extremely blessed and lucky,
in this part of Georgia,
that the storms ravaging the South
have missed us so far.
We are under a tornado watch until 8pm tonight.
So, it is not completely over yet.
But it looks like we will just get some strong winds & rain.
Please keep the people affected by the storms in your prayers.
There are a lot of towns that were hit hard
and some were completely decimated.
movies, movies, movies
I love movies.
I love going to the movies.
I hate paying theater prices.
And do not even get me started on this stupid 3D kick.
But I love the experience of watching movies in a theater, even if it is a bad movie.
There are too many movies out or coming out soon that I want to see right now.
It always happens.
No good movies come out for weeks.
And then...BAM!
All of the ones I want to see are released at the same time.
What a dilemma!
{taking my nieces to see this, probably, the day after Christmas}
{I am there this weekend!}
{not really a fan of Jack Black, but I love Catherine Tate}
{I ♥ Reese!}
{I know this has been out FOREVER but the craziness of grad school prevented me from seeing it. Side note: Chris Pine is GORGEOUS!}
{*sigh* Johnny Depp...enough said}
This is a pretty awesome compilation of the Movies of 2010!
What movies are on your "must see" list?
is it november yet?!
I apologize for being such a bad blogger and commenter.
{I did warn you though} :)
I am trying to stay on top of reading all of the blogs in my reader.
I just do not have the time to comment on all of them:(
But I HAD to take the time to share this little bit of awesomeness!!
I cannot wait!
Anybody else as excited as I am about the last movies?!
weekend randomness
A-Team was AMAZING!
I will definitely be buying it on DVD.
And I am almost tempted to go see it again in theaters.
Which I never do.
We had a great time in Savannah yesterday.
Uncle J enjoyed spending time with us,
but I think he enjoyed getting a free steak more;)
I got him Battlestar Galactica 4.5 for Father's Day.
I am the only one of his girls that appreciates sci-fi
This afternoon I baked homemade cinnamon rolls.
It was A LOT of work,
2 hours of work to be exact
but so worth it!
They were delicious and enormous.
Sadly, this will be the last fattening yummy food that I can bake for a while.
We have really fallen off of the exercise and eat right wagon.
So tomorrow starts the new plan.
And, because of my schedule, I have to workout in the mornings:(
I am NOT a morning person and I HATE to exercise.
I do not think this is going to be a good combination.
Hopefully everyone had a great weekend!
i heart sci-fi!
I am a sci-fi geek. Yes, I just admitted that! Last week I was on a big sci-fi kick. I have gotten every penny worth of Netflix. I love their watch instantly feature. These are a few of the shows/movies I watched.
Sanctuary: Season 1 & 2
Stargate: Ark of Truth
Stargate: Continuum
Torchwood: Seasons 1 & 2
julie & julia
I just watched Julie & Julia and it was fantastic! I had heard mixed reviews from my friends, actually more of the people I talked to did not like it. But I loved it. I really liked the way the two stories were blended. It was really easy to follow and not confusing at all. Meryl Streep really brought Julia to life and Amy Adams was just so real as Julie.
I love to cook. At one point I even considered culinary school. But I could not imagine cooking 524 recipes in 365 days...especially French recipes, while writing a blog about it. I remember watching Julia Child's show every Saturday on PBS. So, this movie really resonated with me. While looking at my numerous cookbooks tonight I realized that I do not have a copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking, I must rectify this situation at once! I really want to try some of the recipes in the movie. The movie also made me realize how boring my blog must be. So, I want to say thank you to the few people who regularly read my blog and I will try to be more interesting. But I think I am a fundamentally boring person;)
Have a happy Sunday!
2012=awesomeness!
I had today off from work and despite having 4 assignments due tomorrow night, I decided to go to the movies. YAY! I really wanted to see 2012 and it is just one of those movies that you have to see in the theater. So after my post earlier this week, I decided to just forget all of my homework assignments for a few hours and go enjoy a movie. I went to the matinee and there were only 3 other people in the theater so it was like my own private screening. I love when that happens! I just want to say it was completely worth it. The movie was awesome! I am a big fan of "end of the world" movies and this one greatly exceeded my expectations. I have been disappointed lately by the end of the world genre....ummmhmmm...Knowing, that was just a weird movie. But 2012 had all of the classic elements and great actors. I love John Cusack and Amanda Peet together! I may even see two movies in less than a week. My best friend and her sis want to go see New Moon on Sunday afternoon and I just cannot get into that craze. So I am probably going to go see Blindside while they are watching New Moon. But I may go to Savannah instead....ahh, decisions, decisions!
Do any of you have big plans this weekend?
...movie slump...
I am a huge movie buff. I love the whole experience of going to the movies. Sadly, I have not been to the movies in 3 months. Not because I have not wanted to go but because I am SO busy with school and work. I just do not have the time to go. Here are just a few of the movies that I am dying to see. Some of them I will have to wait for the DVD and the others I am going to try my best to make it to the theater.
What have been some of your favorite movies so far this year?
disappointment
Movies based on books always do this to me...
Well, I saw Harry Potter today and I am a little disappointed. I did not see it in IMAX because it is not released in IMAX until July 29th. After seeing it I am glad I did not spend $15 for an IMAX ticket. I have anxiously waited 2 years to see this movie. It was a good movie, especially if you have not read the books. Unfortunately, if you are a lover of the books (like me) then the movie is a let down. I realize that they have to make some changes and an adaptation is never going to be just like the book. But they changed some really major stuff. At least, it was a matinee and I did not pay full price. And I have some friends who have not read the books and they loved it. Now I have to wait another year for the next movie. *sigh*
harry potter & summertime
I am super excited about the new Harry Potter movie! My friends and I are going to go see it in IMAX tomorrow night...YAY! I know the theater is going to be packed and crazy, but that is part of the fun!
I absolutely love summertime in Chicago. I was born and raised in South Georgia. Which means summers for me have always been like surviving the 7th layer of hell. But here in Chicago the temperature is in the 70s and there is always a breeze. I love taking long strolls through the park by my apartment and not being drenched in sweat when I finish! It is also fun bragging to all of my GA friends about the great weather. Of course this past winter it was the other way around, so I guess we are even!
