i am engaged to a celebrity

Here is your daily dose of randomness ... you're welcome.

Y'all, I am engaged to a local celebrity.
Yesterday at lunch, a well-dressed gentleman approached our table and told D that he enjoyed him in The Importance of Being Earnest.
That play was in February.
Apparently, D's performance was super memorable!

Of course, I am proud of him and
I always think he does an excellent job.
But it always surprises me when strangers approach us.
And this was just too amusing not to share!
It happened completely out of the blue.

If D keeps up this acting/singing thing,
I am going to have to watch out for paparazzi in the future.
Anybody know where
I can get an over-sized pair of sunglasses from?! ;)

weekend recap

This weekend was pretty laid back for me.
D was helping some friends move in Savannah.
So I had the weekend to myself.

Friday: I went shopping for a dress to wear to the Emma Awards next weekend.
D has been nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor.

Saturday: We officially have a photographer for the wedding!
I met with Jess and signed the contract.
I have known Jess for 9 years now.
I am so thankful to have a photographer that knows me well.
I hate having my picture taken and I know she will put me at ease.

That afternoon, Jess, her sister, and I went shopping.
A new outlet mall opened a few weeks ago in a nearby town.
This place is going to be trouble.
They have a Converse Outlet store and a Vera Bradley Outlet store.
I bought 2 new pairs of Converse.
Because you can NEVER have too many Converse!

Sunday: I went grocery shopping, read a book, and started Reign on Netflix.
A true lazy Sunday.

Hope y'all had a great weekend!

tell me i'm not the only one ...

I actually have a ton of events to blog about,
I just do not have time to sit down and write about them
plus add the necessary photos.
I will eventually get to it ... probably

I have been in blog land for around 5ish years.
I definitely read blogs long before I started my own.
And I love all of the people I've "met."

Social media has blown up in the past few years.
Almost all bloggers now have Facebook , Twitter, Instagram, & Pinterest accounts linked to their blog.
And they all encourage you to follow all of their different social media pages and interact with them.
I typically do follow their different pages, especially if it is a blogger I really like.
However, this is where my weirdness comes in.
I always feel weird commenting/replying to other bloggers social media pages.

For some reason, in the back of my mind, if I reply to a tweet or comment on Instagram,
I automatically think ... "that person is going to think I am a stalker."
Does anybody else feel this way?
I know it has to be crazy.
I mean, why would people encourage you to interact with them
and then think you are a creep when you do?

It is not rational or logical to think this way.
I am not always a sane person. ;)
Please tell me I am not alone in this.
Thanks for listening blog land.

BTW: all of my social media links are on the right.

morning music

One of my favorite things is a
long, hot shower.
So much so, that I have to put a time limit
on my showers on workdays.
'Cause it is a little ridiculous to take a
30 minute shower every morning before work!

I time my morning showers with music.
I am usually done after the first two songs,
but I allow myself a four song time limit;
for those especially sluggish mornings.

I have a specific playlist that acts as my time clock.
This playlist does change occasionally when the mood strikes.
But I thought it would be fun to share
the songs on my current
morning playlist.

Of course, the YouTube versions are a bit longer
than the album versions.
There are more songs on the playlist
that I listen to while getting ready,
but these are the first five.
What are some of your favorite songs right now?

fantasy dinner party

Erin over at Blue-Eyed Bride
asked the question
"What 10 people would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?".
I thought it would be fun to play along.
 So, here is my list!

1. Ronald Reagan--The Great Communicator, somebody has to keep the conversation going.
2. George W. Bush-- I just love him! Sorry, not sorry!
3. Ann Coulter-- I want to be her when I grow up.
4. JK Rowling-- She wrote Harry Potter...enough said.
5. Kate Middleton-- It is a requirement to have royalty at a dinner party.
6. Craig Ferguson-- To keep everybody laughing.
7. Felicia Day-- The quirky queen of sci-fi.
8. Zachary Levi-- We would fall in love & get married...I am sure of it!
9. Nathan Fillion-- He would probably pull a fun prank on everybody.
10. Adam Baldwin-- Sarcasm covered!

Who would you invite??

swings♥

One of my favorite things to do is curl up in a swing/hammock and read a book or just relax.
I was blessed to grow up in a classic southern house with a wrap-around porch.
We had swings and rocking chairs a-plenty!
My granddaddy even built me a swing on the dock overlooking the pond and it was one of my favorite places to spend time outside.
For Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday, I decided to share some of the fabulous swings I have found on Pinterest

Don't you just want to curl up in one of those and take a long afternoon nap?!

just some randomness

Late weekend recap:
This weekend was pretty much a lazy weekend.
I made my first peach cobbler of the season
and it was oh so yummy!
I did not exercise at all on Saturday or Sunday and
I do not feel one ounce of guilt about that ;)
The bestie & I played
Super Mario Bros on the Wii
for 6 hours Sunday.
It took us right back to our childhood.
I big happy heart Super Mario Bros♥
Overall, it was a pretty great weekend!

Update on my favorite little man:
My nephew Nash has had several important firsts
over the last couple of months.

He started crawling!
And my sister caught it on her phone for me. :D
He started off pretty shaky
but he is a crawling machine now.

He got his very first boo-boo. :(
My niece Cas was playing with him on the bed
and he fell off and bumped his head.
Kinda like 12 little monkeys!
He was fine just had a little bump.
My sis said it scared him more than anything else.

He went to the beach for the very first time.
I was actually there for that one,
it was my idea!
He loved the sand
but did not care for the water that much.

And here are a few pictures
just because he is so darn cute!
Apparently, he does not like smiling in pictures.

hey y'all

Um, so yeah,
it has been over a month since
I have posted anything.
Sorry about that!
I just have not been in the blogging mood lately.
This is the first time I have even logged into blogger in about 2 weeks.

Nothing really exciting has been going on in my life.
I work and the come home and apply for jobs.
That is pretty much it.
And I am sure you do not want to hear anything about
my panic attacks over not even getting one single interview yet.

One exciting thing that has happened is
one of my very best friends got
ENGAGED!!!
And she has asked me to be her wedding planner!
So I am in total wedding planning mode.
I am like a kid in a candy store when I have something to plan.
I will do some more posts letting y'all know
how the planning is going.

Hopefully, I will be able to get back into the swing of things!
Thanks to any of my readers who are actually reading this
you are pretty awesome :)

random stuff

Is anybody else as excited as I am?

This looks awesomely epic!
It is a shame though that the producers
feel they have to show it in 3D.
And I am trying not to think about how
far they have strayed from the books;)
But, you know, other than that, I am super excited!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On another {more serious} note,
we have been extremely blessed and lucky,
in this part of Georgia,
that the storms ravaging the South
have missed us so far.
We are under a tornado watch until 8pm tonight.
So, it is not completely over yet.
But it looks like we will just get some strong winds & rain.
Please keep the people affected by the storms in your prayers.
There are a lot of towns that were hit hard
and some were completely decimated.
the fun theory
There is a set of stairs, with a moving escalator next to it .... both of which lead to the same spot on the floor of the upper level.
At first no one took the stairs, almost 97% of the people took the escalator.
Okay.
I think that could be a normal expected result.
Then a group of engineers got together, and decided they wanted to change the percentage around.
Notice what these scientists did.
Clever huh.
And now they have reversed the percentages, as a whopping 66% more people take the stairs, than ride the escalator.
mixed bag of life!
  • I would like to introduce y'all to the most precious little boy in the WORLD! {Of course, I am completely unbiased!} My little burrito is just perfect; with 10 fingers, 10 tiny toes, and chubby little cheeks!
  • My sister went through the c-section fabulously! There were no complications and everything went really quickly. She went back to the OR at 7:15 and he was born at 8:02 am. For some reason I thought it would take longer.
  • Unfortunately, my sis has not been doing that great since he was born. This past Saturday she was having trouble breathing and they had to rush her to the emergency room. The doctors found out she had fluid in her lungs so they kept her overnight. They did let her go home Sunday but it was a scary few hours waiting on news. Thankfully, she is doing much better now!
  • This morning I found out I won a free month to a local gym here in town. I randomly entered into the giveaway when I was at the fair a few weeks ago never thinking I would actually win. {btw, I HATE to exercise} I have been trying to get in better shape lately and this is a blessing. I am not the type of person to be self-motivated when it comes to exercise and this membership comes with a personal trainer as well!
  • I have been praying about what I want to do career-wise once I graduate in May. And I am seriously comtemplating joining the Air Force. I have always been a deeply patriotic person and joining the military was something I considered when I graduated from high school. I am still praying about it because I want to be sure I am doing what God wants me to do.
  • This is another reason the gym membership and personal trainer are a blessing. I have to get in shape to even consider the Air Force. So, my goal is to be able to pass the Physical Fitness Test for the AF by May. Even if I decide that the Air Force is not the route I want to take at least I will be in really good shape! I just do not want something as controllable as my weight/fitness level to keep me from a wonderful opportunity.
  • It is going to be an interesting 6 months thats for sure! And for all of my readers that pray, I would be extremely grateful for a prayer or two sent up on my behalf. I have some big decisions to make regarding my future. I know that I do not graduate until May but time has a tendency to fly, especially when big decisions are involved. And I just want to make the right decisions and follow where God is leading.
randomness
I FINALLY finshed summer semester on Friday!
Of course, that meant an all-nighter to finish my research paper.
But it was totally worth it.
I made A's in both of my classes this summer!!
Friday afternoon I drove to the farm to visit the family.
My sis is 5 months along now!
I had a little "talkin' to" with the peanut and told him that under no circumstances was he allowed to make his grand entrance until I could be there for it;)
You think that will work at all!
I just noticed that I put "he" all through that sentence.
We actually do not know the gender yet because apparently the stubborn gene is very strong.
She has another ultrasound on Aug 5th so hopefully we will know then!
On Saturday, I had a girls' day out with my sis and my two beautiful nieces!
We had lunch, did some shopping, got our nails done, and ate ice cream.
We had a fab time!!
After we got home, I let the girls ride the horse for the first time.
I thought my sister would be a little nervous about them riding but she had complete trust in me.
It was a little funny.
My oldest niece, W, is horse CRAZY.
I mean she has every horse book ever written, horse pendants, horse posters on her walls...you get my drift.
And the younger one, C, likes horses okay but she is more of a doll kind of girl.
Well, C had a blast; I had to basically pry her off of the horse!
But W was really nervous.
I was SUPER proud of her though.
Even though she was nervous she still got on and rode him.
After a little while she was a little more comfortable!
I am actually thinking about getting them both riding lessons for Christmas.
I am the only one in my family that rides and I do not get down there enough to teach them.
I left the farm Sunday afternoon and decided to stop and get a hotel for the night.
I am one of those people that need alone time to properly function as a human being.
After this crazy semester and being cooped up in a house with 3 other women,
I needed a break.
The roomies were not expecting me home until Monday.
I did not tell anyone where I stopped and I put my cell on vibrate and just enjoyed the silence of being all by myself for a blissful 24 hours!!
We are moving into our new house this weekend!!!
I am ready to be out of this apartment complex.
I am not looking forward to packing and especially not looking forward to moving in South GA heat.
So, this week will consist of work and packing. Fun times;)
But I cannot wait to get into the new place!
random recap
The past week has been pretty busy:
  • I made a cool $136 million in profit as CEO in our group negotiation exercise
  • {if only I actually received the salary for that:) }
  • I have a knack for negotiating...apparently
  • I purchased the entire series of Stargate SG-1
  • I have watched entirely too much Stargate this weekend
  • {when I should have been doing school work...oh well, I was celebrating independence}
  • July 4th is definitely still my fav holiday
  • fireworks still make me feel like a kid
  • lazy rainy days are the best kind!
  • rediscovered why Ansel Adams is my favorite photographer
  • check out the Ansel Adams Gallery or use google images...AMAZING!
  • having 3 days off from both jobs really throws off my sleep pattern
  • getting up for work this morning was TORTURE;)
  • I am now kicking myself for not doing that much school work over the weekend
I hope everyone had a fun-filled holiday weekend!
weekend randomness
A-Team was AMAZING!
I will definitely be buying it on DVD.
And I am almost tempted to go see it again in theaters.
Which I never do.
We had a great time in Savannah yesterday.
Uncle J enjoyed spending time with us,
but I think he enjoyed getting a free steak more;)
I got him Battlestar Galactica 4.5 for Father's Day.
I am the only one of his girls that appreciates sci-fi
This afternoon I baked homemade cinnamon rolls.
It was A LOT of work,
2 hours of work to be exact
but so worth it!
They were delicious and enormous.
Sadly, this will be the last fattening yummy food that I can bake for a while.
We have really fallen off of the exercise and eat right wagon.
So tomorrow starts the new plan.
And, because of my schedule, I have to workout in the mornings:(
I am NOT a morning person and I HATE to exercise.
I do not think this is going to be a good combination.
Hopefully everyone had a great weekend!
weekend fun♥
I had a fabulous and relaxing weekend!
After work on Saturday, the BFF & I met up with some friends for a girls' lunch.
We were supposed to grill out but decided that was just too much work so we ate out instead.
Then we went to the pool.
I got in some much needed relaxation!
We were there about 3 hours and I was in the pool the entire time.
The purpose of going to the pool was to layout, but I love the water and it was just too hot to sit beside the water when I could be IN the water;)
Then the BFF & I went and got pedicures.
We tried a new place here in town.
And let me tell you it was heaven.
They put hot towel wraps on your legs.
***sigh***
They could have charged me just for that!
Then we came home and I watched the repaly of the Belmont Stakes.
Congrats Drosselmeyer and jockey Mike Smith!
I hate that I missed it but the pedi was totally worth it.
