weekend recap on tuesday

Hey y'all!
I have a 15 minute break,
so I thought I would pop in and give y'all an update on my weekend.

Saturday
I had to work until 3 pm. Yuck!
But it wasn't a horrible work day
and we were really busy,
so, the time flew by.
D DJ'ed (sp?) a Sweet Sixteen party Saturday night.

It was a lot of fun.
I really do not miss being 16 though.
It reminded me of how awkward I was at that age.

Sunday
I slept way too late.
Guess, my introvert brain needed to really recharge.

That afternoon I went with D's family to
The Moving Wall.

Explanation from their website:
"The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country since 1984."

It was truly an overwhelming experience.
There are 58,000 names on that wall.
That alone is overwhelming.

Volunteers were reading the names on the Wall.
They started Thursday morning and still had not finished reading all of the names when we got there Sunday afternoon.
I am just continually grateful for everyone that has served in our Military and to their family members.

Sunday night, my brother called and told me that it was
baby night!!!
She was officially born on Monday morning at 12:17 am
at a tiny 5lbs 12oz.

Please let me introduce my newest niece ...
Ms. Anniston Elise.

I will not get to meet her until the 2nd week in September, but I am in love already.

weekend update

D and I have been thoroughly enjoying the great weather we have right now!
The way GA's weather changes this time of year,
we have to enjoy it when we can.

GSU's baseball season started last week.
Baseball is my very favorite sport.
Attending games is one of my favorite parts about living in a college town.

The Art Department had their annual Empty Bowl Project last week.
Art students paint bowls and they can be purchased for $10 and you get the bowl and a chili lunch.
All proceeds go to the local food bank.
Another perk of a college town, cheap art/crafts!

D and I went cycling everyday this past weekend.
We usually go between 5:30-6 in the evenings
and the sun is setting by the time we finish.
Such a great way to end a day!
D also gave me my first tennis lesson on Sunday.
Y'all should feel very sorry for him!
Even though, he said that I did really well for my first time playing.
But he could have just been saying that because he is a stellar boyfriend!

I got some super exciting news from my brother ...
I am going to be an Aunt again and he is going to be a Daddy for the first time!!
I absolutely adore my nieces and nephews and cannot wait to add one more to love!
First pic of the new peanut!
I never can see anything in these ultrasound pictures ;)

mixed bag of life!

  • I would like to introduce y'all to the most precious little boy in the WORLD! {Of course, I am completely unbiased!} My little burrito is just perfect; with 10 fingers, 10 tiny toes, and chubby little cheeks!
  • My sister went through the c-section fabulously! There were no complications and everything went really quickly. She went back to the OR at 7:15 and he was born at 8:02 am. For some reason I thought it would take longer.
  • Unfortunately, my sis has not been doing that great since he was born. This past Saturday she was having trouble breathing and they had to rush her to the emergency room. The doctors found out she had fluid in her lungs so they kept her overnight. They did let her go home Sunday but it was a scary few hours waiting on news. Thankfully, she is doing much better now!
  • This morning I found out I won a free month to a local gym here in town. I randomly entered into the giveaway when I was at the fair a few weeks ago never thinking I would actually win. {btw, I HATE to exercise} I have been trying to get in better shape lately and this is a blessing. I am not the type of person to be self-motivated when it comes to exercise and this membership comes with a personal trainer as well!
  • I have been praying about what I want to do career-wise once I graduate in May. And I am seriously comtemplating joining the Air Force. I have always been a deeply patriotic person and joining the military was something I considered when I graduated from high school. I am still praying about it because I want to be sure I am doing what God wants me to do.
  • This is another reason the gym membership and personal trainer are a blessing. I have to get in shape to even consider the Air Force. So, my goal is to be able to pass the Physical Fitness Test for the AF by May. Even if I decide that the Air Force is not the route I want to take at least I will be in really good shape! I just do not want something as controllable as my weight/fitness level to keep me from a wonderful opportunity.
  • It is going to be an interesting 6 months thats for sure! And for all of my readers that pray, I would be extremely grateful for a prayer or two sent up on my behalf. I have some big decisions to make regarding my future. I know that I do not graduate until May but time has a tendency to fly, especially when big decisions are involved. And I just want to make the right decisions and follow where God is leading.

baby update

Novemeber 2nd is a VERY IMPORTANT day!

And not just because that is election day.
Which is important in itself, but that is a very different blog post.

That is the day we will meet my nephew!
If he decides to wait until then;)
My sister scheduled the c-section Thursday.
We are so excited about finally meeting the little munchkin!

Please say a prayer for my sister.
She is a little nervous about having a c-section.
She had my two nieces naturally.
But she has had some complications this time and the doctor thinks it will be safer to deliver him this way.
Thanks!

plans, plans

As I mentioned in my last post, I am planning a baby shower for my sister.
It is in 3 weeks and I feel like I still have about 2,432,198 things to do.
The theme of the shower is Dr. Seuss' One Fish, Two Fish.
Instead of doing typical finger foods, I am doing a dessert bar and candy table.
I am going to have little Chinese takeout boxes for people to fill with candy and take home as favors.
I had some amazing invitations custom designed by the fab Posh 'n Chic Prints.

 Aren't they just adorable?!

I have also done a lot of crafty stuff for the shower.
I made a sign the sis can hang above the baby's bed.
I did not want the girls to feel left out so I made them one too.
I am going to use them as decorations at the shower.

I think they look very Seussian and they were super easy to make.
I purchased all of the materials from Hobby Lobby.
Love that place!!
And then painted the boards and letters to match my decor.
It only took about 3 hours to do all three.
The circles took the longest because I had to apply several coats.

I am getting close to having everything ready for the shower.
The invitations went out last Friday so there is not backing out now;)

Does anyone have any suggestions for shower games that are not super cheesy??

It's a BOY!

Remember this post back in March when I announced that I was going to be an aunt again?
Well after a much anitcipated wait,
it is offical...I am going to have a nephew!!!

Yes, this alien looking thing is my nephew!
I do not get how anybody (even technicians) see anything in these pictures.
My sister is 30 weeks along and we are just finding out that he is a boy.
The little butterbean has definitely inherited the stubborn gene!
It has taken 4 ultrasounds over 10 weeks to get the little bugger to show us his stuff;)
I guess he is just shy!

It is going to be SO. MUCH. FUN. getting to spoil a boy.
My sister has two daughters and they are both excited about having a little brother.
I have been busily planning a baby shower.
I will probably be doing several posts about that in the near future.
I have gone a LITTLE overboard;)
But I love to plan a party, especially when it involves my favorite little people!!
I take my job as an aunt VERY seriously.
