end of an era

Honoring #10

This weekend was bittersweet.
Sunday was Chipper Jones' last regular season homegame
for the Atlanta Braves.
I bought tickets for this game back in June
and I am glad that I did because the stadium sold out quickly.

Game Day Nails
It was such a good game; emotional but good!
I know, I know.
There is no crying in baseball...
unless it is Chipper's last game, then it is perfectly okay!
I have always been a huge Braves fan
and Chipper has been my favorite player for as long as I can remember.
My favorite game just will not be the same without #10 on the field.

I have a habit of buying tickets in the same section of Turner Field
every time I go, usually on the Terrace level.
For some reason, I bought tickets on the Club level this time.
And let me tell you, I am hooked.

The Club level of Turner Field is Amazing!
You have to have tickets to even get in this level.
It is where all of the suites are and where most season ticket holders sit.
Sadly, I was a bad blogger and did not get any pictures.
However, I will be buying tickets on this level from now on!

When it was time for the players to take the field,
all of the other Braves players let
Chipper go out to third base by himself.
He was the only player on the field for about 30 seconds
and the crowd went wild.
Chip's 1st At-Bat of the Game

Of course, my friends and I ate horribly.
There was no healthy eating on the schedule Sunday.
We had nachos, ice cream, a funnel cake, and Coke.
I felt so sick on the way home from the game.
But it was all too good to pass up!

To make the day just perfect, the Braves won!
After the game, they interviewed Chipper
and put it on the big screen.
After the interview, he went into the stands
and hugged his parents.
Cue the waterworks.
I had done so well up until that point!

The team used special balls all weekend
in honor of Chipper.
And I had to buy one!
My little piece of Braves history.

Chipper had a great last home game.
The Braves are going to the playoffs.
It really was a great weekend!

On a sports related side note:
The Seminoles are doing great this year!
5-0 baby!!

just call me martha stewart

I love to decorate my house for holidays...in theory!
When it comes to my personal life I am the
Queen of procrastination.
For example, last night I just switched out my holiday decorations.

Yes, I went from July 4th straight to Halloween.
That's how I roll! :)
I have good intentions to change these frames for
every season/holiday.
Somehow, August & September were forgotten this year.

fun with friends

The last two weeks at work were as crazy as expected.
Hopefully, it calms down next week.
This weekend was pretty awesome though.
It was my close friend, Shan's, birthday Saturday.

And we celebrated at our go to spot...
the beach!

We got to the beach early before all the crowds.
The waves were massive Saturday because of Hurricane Issac.
The surfers were out in full force.
Which is not usual for Tybee.

After soaking up lots of vitamin D
and getting whiplash from the waves,
we went back to the beach house and admired Shan's cake.
Her husband baked & decorated her cake.
We were all very impressed by his skills!

We went to Shan's favorite restaurant on Tybee,
The Crab Shack.

I had never been there before because I am not a seafood eater.
But it was a lot of fun.
The place is huge and just has some weird elements.
Like baby alligators and exotic birds.

This was our view at supper!

Seriously, who cares how crappy your week was
when you can enjoy a view like that.

lazy beach days

The next two weeks at work will literally be
the busiest of the year.
So, the bestie & I decided to have
a lazy day at the beach this past Saturday
with a couple of friends.

Saturday was a perfect day for the beach.
It was not too hot and there was a constant breeze.
Now the couple, S&C, that came with us
knows how to spend a day at the beach.
When the bestie and I go
we usually just bring our beach chairs & a book
and we typically only last about 3 hours on the beach.
We are amateurs compared to S&C.
They brought a tent, a hammock, chairs, food,
& an Ipod docking station for music.

That afternoon I spent a lovely hour
swinging in the hammock on the beach.
Now that is the life.
If I had unlimited funds I could
definitely be a full-time beach bum!
I am now mentally prepared for the upcoming madness...I hope!

28

Saturday was my 28th birthday!
I had so much fun celebrating with friends.
I did not want anything spectacular or too busy.
We kept it low-key by going out to eat Saturday night
and coming back to my house for cake, ice cream,
& of course, presents!
I have been wanting a wrap-style watch
for a while and my bestie got me this one.

My beautiful & yummy cake!

Overall, turning 28 was a blast!

time to celebrate!

Today is my last day
on the No Junk Food Challenge!
Honestly, it has not been as hard as I thought it would be.
But tomorrow is my Birthday
and I am going to splurge big time.
Cake & ice cream here I come!!

I hit one of my big
weightloss goals this week.
Yet another reason to celebrate!
Doesn't it just feel so good to step on the
scale and see the number you have been working
toward for a while?!
I am telling you Wednesday morning
was a great morning.
And that was even before coffee!

I am not too worried about the scale.
But I do have an ultimate goal weight that I am aiming for.
Mainly because I need a goal to work towards.
I am not one of those people
who can work out just to work out.

My main plan so far is just to lose 1 pound a week.
Slow & steady!
I have lost about 35 lbs since
the beginning of April,
so I am ahead of my 1lb/week plan right now.
But I know I will have up weeks and down weeks.
I am pretty sure next week is not going to be a
successful week because of my birthday.
And I am completely fine with that.
If you cannot splurge on your birthday,
when can you?

Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

the hobbit

I had to share this
because I am a Tolkien nerd.
I swear by the end of this I was holding back tears.
Jackson is working on another
great set of instant classics!

stress relief

Baking is my favorite form of stress relief.
There is something about the process that
just calms my mind.
My little sister's birthday was at the beginning of July
and I had a lot of fun baking for her.

She requested my Cream-filled Red Velvet Cupcakes
instead of a birthday cake.

I also wanted to try a new recipe I found on Pinterest:
Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies.
{talk about alliteration}

I LOVE anything with cream cheese in it
and these cookies did not disappoint.
They do have more of a cakey texture to them
and I was not thrilled with that.
But they had a great flavor!

I had some extra cream cheese icing from the cupcakes.
And I discovered something heavenly!
I made a cream cheese chocolate chip cookie sandwich.
{sigh}
I do not even want to know how many calories were in that concoction.

I am dreaming of baked goods right now.
Between my sister's birthday & mine in early August
I am doing the "No Junk Food Challenge."
It is really not that hard because I do not eat
that many sweets.
Not that you can tell from this post.
The hardest thing to give up is
peanut butter & nutella.
I think I will be having a PB&J for my birthday lunch!

geek alert

I am a geek!
I love science fiction & superheroes & technology.
I dream of one day going to Comic-Con.
Luckily, I have the world wide web.
This allows me to experience snippets of Comic-Con.
It is a sad substitute but better than nothing!

For the past 2 years,
Zachary Levi has orchestrated Nerd HQ at Comic-Con.
And they streamed all of their panels live!
Woo-Hoo!
I did not get to watch all of them live
because of the time difference.
However, they archived the streams
which were available almost immediately after the panel.
Of course, there is also YouTube.
I have been spending a lot of time on there today.

I thought I would share some of the awesome
Comic-Con videos
I have been watching this weekend.

Are there any other geeks out there that would love to go to Comic-Con?

i ♥ nail polish

I think it is a well-known fact
that I love nail polish!
My latest obsession is matte nails.
I bought Essie's Matte About You;
which is a top coat that makes any nail polish matte!
I am LOVING it!
The only thing I do not like about matte
is that it seems to chip faster
than regular nail polish.
But that is okay because
I typically change my nail color every 3-4 days.
Here are some of my more recent polishes:

What are your favorite nail polish colors?
