SUYL: all about makeup

Today I am linking up with Kelly's Korner
Show Us Your Life series.
This week the topic is
all about makeup.

I am a low maintenance girl when it comes to makeup.
I actually HATE wearing makeup
and only wear it when it is necessary, i.e. work or events.

I am not creative with my makeup.
I am a GAW (grown a** woman) and
I have no clue how to put on eyeliner.
I have tried to learn and have watched a crazy amount
of YouTube videos and it is a no-go.
I have small eyes and they just do not cooperate with eyeliner.

I have used Bare Minerals for years now.
It is the only foundation I can tolerate for any length of time.
Liquid foundations always feel to heavy on my face
and make me feel claustrophobic.
I know, sounds crazy, right?!

This is what I use on a daily basis:
Bare Minerals Original Foundation in Medium
Bare Minerals Mineral Veil
Bare Minerals Bronzer in Skinny Dip
I just recently learned how to use bronzer & highlighter!
Bare Minerals Luminizer in Love Affair
for highlighting
Bare Minerals Eyeshadow in Fire Opal
CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara Waterproof
Carmex
I do not wear any kind of lipstick

What is your go-to makeup?

Y'all be sure to check back Monday for a fun GIVEAWAY!

apartment tour - main living area

I moved into my new apartment in February.
So, I figured it was time to give my blog friends a tour.
I actually took the pictures when I hosted wine club in April.
I know I am a procrastinator. :)

I took way too many pictures.
In order to prevent picture overload,
I am going to split the tour between two posts.
This first post will cover the main living area:
kitchen, living room, & bathroom.
The second post will cover the bedroom & library.

Now on to the pictures ...
My kitchen and living area are one big open space,
which I love.
Front to back view of living area
Back to Front view of living area
Kitchen details ...

Living room details ...
Library through the right door,
bedroom through the left door

You can see the laundry room beyond the couch

Bathroom ...

I am still in the process of decorating.
I think I have finally figured out what to do with the wall above the couch.
I just have to find all of the pieces I am looking for.

Stay tuned for part 2 of the tour.

SUYL: all about hair

Today I am linking up with Kelly's Korner
Show Us Your Life series.
This week the topic is
all about hair.

I am a pretty low maintenance girl.
My favorite outfit is jeans & a tshirt,
I only wear makeup when necessary,
and dressing up is a hassle. ;)

However, my hair is pretty high maintenance.
I have always had long hair.
Currently, it is a little more than halfway down my back.
I think the key to having long hair is to have healthy hair.
I always get comments on how healthy my hair looks
and my stylist says I have the healthiest head of hair she works on.

Now, I think part of this is genetics.
I have naturally straight hair so I do not have to use a lot of heat on it daily.
Oh how I have always wanted curly hair.

But the other part is product.
I use quality products on my hair and probably spend way too much money.
I figure it balances out with the money I save on makeup.
I have also never colored my hair either so I save on that expense as well.
I have used the same products on my hair for about 5 years or so now.
I found the perfect mix for my hair!

Here is my laundry list of hair products that I use daily:

S Factor Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner

It's A 10 Leave-In Conditioner Plus Keratin

S Factor Smoothing Lusterizer

S Factor Dream Drops

I am always interested in hair products other people swear by.
What is your favorite hair product?

morning music

One of my favorite things is a
long, hot shower.
So much so, that I have to put a time limit
on my showers on workdays.
'Cause it is a little ridiculous to take a
30 minute shower every morning before work!

I time my morning showers with music.
I am usually done after the first two songs,
but I allow myself a four song time limit;
for those especially sluggish mornings.

I have a specific playlist that acts as my time clock.
This playlist does change occasionally when the mood strikes.
But I thought it would be fun to share
the songs on my current
morning playlist.

Of course, the YouTube versions are a bit longer
than the album versions.
There are more songs on the playlist
that I listen to while getting ready,
but these are the first five.
What are some of your favorite songs right now?

thank you, thank you very much!

Last week, the lovely Holly at Scattered Words gave me an award.
Thanks a million Holly!!
I am still amazed when someone leaves a comment much less gives me an award!

The Rules:
List 10 things you may find interesting about me
Nominate 7 other bloggers to do the same

1. I have been in school for 20 years straight.
I have not taken one break from school since Kindergarten.
Not counting summer breaks.

2. My best friends and I have been best friends for 15 years.
We have known each other for about 16 years,
but we could not stand each other at first.
It is so funny how stuff works out!

3. I have never had a boyfriend or been on a date.
See number one for the reason.
I have always been focused on finishing school first.
And surprisingly enough this fact rarely bothers me.
Every once in a while I will get bummed about it.
But the way I see it I still have plenty of time.
And if God has someone out there for me it will happen
and I will not have to search it out.
I am really happy being single...it suits me!

4. I absolutely, positively hate hot weather.
You will NEVER hear me complain about it being cold.
I was born in South Georgia and heat has always been my enemy.
If you ever hear a Southerner say,
"You get used to the heat."
THEY ARE LYING!!
I especially hate those triple digit days with 100% humidity.
Can you tell I am not looking forward to summer?

5. I am already planning my sister's baby shower.
I know she just found out she was pregnant.
And has not told anyone else but me & her hubby.
I just cannot stop myself.
It is my duty to spoil my nieces (& possibly nephew) rotten.
Even before they are born!

6. WOW! It is really hard thinking of 10 interesting things about me.
I do not find myself particularly interesting!

7. I have read an entire encyclopedia.
I know this screams MAJOR DORK!
One summer, when I was about 10 or 11,
I ran out of books to read at home.
Library day was still a week away.
So, I decided to read our encyclopedia set.
I finished it that week.
Hmm, I wonder if this one & #3 have any links:)

8. Okay, I am out of interesting stuff!!

I pass this award on to all of my wonderful followers!!
Especially, if you read this entire post;)

little ole me♥

One of my more recent finds in the blogging world is a super cute blog called Confessions of Jenny!
In yesterday's blog post, she asked her readers to answer a few questions about themselves so we could get to know each other better. If anyone else would like to join the fun I will add the questions at the bottom of this post! Just let me know in a comment if you answer them on your blog.

  1. Do you have any nicknames? What are they? Where did they come from?
    • Probably the one that gets used the most is Grace. You would think with a wonderful name like Grace it would be something good, right?! Sadly, this is not the case. I was born with 2 left feet. I am SUPER clumsy. I worked in a bookstore and they banned me from the gifts. I could not even dust the shelves the gifts were on. {well that was a little bonus:)} Anytime we moved as a family, they would not put fragile on the boxes with breakables, they would write "Grace do not touch!" Yeah...it really is that bad!!
    {the antithesis of me}
  2. If you could choose one of your personality traits to pass onto your children, what would it be?
    • I would have to say my determination/individuality. These two kind of go hand in hand for me. I was determined to get out of my hometown and to make something of myself. I am the first one in my family to attend and graduate from college. So, all throughout school, I had a single goal to make good grades so I could go to college. I did not hang out with the popular crowd and go to parties or date the guy of the week. I was not unpopular. I just did my work, kept my head down, and got out of there as fast as I could. I never wanted to fit into the IN crowd.
  3. If you could have any celebrity for a father or mother, who would you pick?
    • Hmmm...I would have to say Ronald Reagan. I know that is not a typical celebrity, but hey...President of the United States! I greatly admire and respect Reagan and would have loved to have conversations with him around the supper table.
  4. Name your 3 favorite blogs.
  5. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
    • A lawyer. I even completed my first year of law school last year. I figured out that it just was not for me. I really loved my theory classes. But I HATED my practical classes. {you know the ones where you do ALL of the stuff lawyers do everyday...yeah those} So, I talked with some of my professors and I prayed. A. LOT. and came to the decision to not continue with law school. That was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made in my life because I have literally wanted to be a lawyer since I was 5. Now I am pursuing my MBA and after this summer I only have 7 more classes until graduation...YAY!!!

Here are the questions for you to copy and paste:
1. Do you have any nicknames? Explain. :)
2. If you could choose one of your personality traits to pass onto your children, what would it be?
3. If you could have any celebrity for a father and mother, who would you pick?
4. Name your 3 favorite blogs.
5. What did you want to be when you were growing up?

{If you do not want to do a whole post on the questions just answer one or two in a comment. I would love to get to know all of you a little better!}
