weekend recap

Hey y'all!
This past weekend was jam packed with stuff
and it would be a shame not to share.
Fall really is my favorite time of the year.
Even if it is supposed to be 90 here today.
A friend posted this on FB yesterday.
C'mon Georgia get with the program.
However, last weekend's weather was gorgeous and very fall-like ...
cool temps, breezy, and beautiful.

Thursday:
My weekend started on Thursday last week because it was FAIR time.
As all of my long-time readers know the fair is when fall officially begins for me.
My previous fair posts are here and here
D and I were joined by his family (mom, dad, brother, & sister).
We rode the ferris wheel, ate funnel cakes (among other things), and people watched.
We had so much fun!

Friday:
D's brother's birthday was Friday and he wanted to go to Haunted Montrose to celebrate.
This was my 2nd year going to Montrose with D's family.
I loved it just as much this year.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.
I love all things spooky and haunted and CANDY!

Saturday:
D and I went to a Halloween party Saturday night.
D's cousin and her husband throw an annual Halloween Bash.
Everyone dresses up and has a lot of fun!
This was my first year going and I really enjoyed it.
It's great that I enjoy D's family (and that they like me!)
because we basically spent all weekend together.
I was the Tardis and D was Captain Jack Sparrow.
Only one person knew who I was at the party and she only knew because a friend of hers watches Doctor Who.
Talk about disappointing.
People need to up their geek game. ;)

Sunday:
I needed a lazy day after the excitement of the previous days.
I had fun but my introvert brain was lagging.
So, D and I did a bunch of nothing Sunday morning ...
drank coffee, cooked french toast, and lounged on the couch.
Sunday afternoon, we went shooting.
I got a new Smith & Wesson 9mm last week and needed some target practice with it.

Overall, it was a really great weekend!
I love making new memories with D and his family.
It is weird that we are now doing things for a second time around ...
like Montrose and the fair.
Saturday, D and I had been dating for 18 months.
A year and a half has just flown by!

I hope y'all had a great weekend as well!

weekend shenanigans

The past two weekends have been fairly busy.
Fun, but busy!

The fair was in town a couple of weeks ago.
D and I went on Friday night.
Of course, we had a funnel cake
and we rode the ferris wheel.
The fair also had a really cool area that
had a blacksmith, an old-time general store,
and some antique farm equipment.

Like I have said before,
the fair means the arrival of fall.
Living in South Georgia
the weather can be a bit unpredictable,
so, it cannot be counted on to
determine the seasons. ;)

The next night
D and I, along with his family,
went to a nearby haunted attraction...
Haunted Montrose.
It was a ton of fun!

The gang
The gang trying to take a selfie!
Last Friday,
my office had it's annual fall festival.
We had games and candy galore.
It was so much fun!
My favorite game was the glow stick bowling.
It looked super cool.
A small sampling of the candy.

Last Saturday,
D and I went to Savannah.
Savannah finally has a Chipotle!!!!!
I cannot express how excited I am about this fact.
I no longer have to drive 3+ hours to get my Chipotle fix.
Granted, D may not be as happy about this development.
I highly doubt he wants to eat at the same restaurant every time we go to Savannah.

Chipotle is right beside a Bruster's (not yet open) ...
ice cream is probably my second favorite food,
right behind Chipotle.
This is food heaven for me.
There is also a Whole Foods in the same shopping center.
So, we browsed around the store some.
They had Biscoff ice cream
and it was divine!
D totally racked up the brownie points Saturday night!

Biscoff ice cream ... Amazing!
After dinner and dessert,
we drove down to River Street and
walked around.
Then we stopped in a restaurant to watch
the second half of the FSU/Miami game.
In which, the Noles dominated!
It was pretty much a perfect night!

the fair = fall ♥

We do not really have a fall in South Georgia.
I mean it hit 90° yesterday and the high today is 85°.
So, when the fair comes to town it is officially fall in my book.
I know it does not really make sense,
but that is how I roll.  ;)
{I cannot believe I just wrote that...my family is very proud}

Anyway, the fair was in town last week!
And the fair is a BIG DEAL in South Georgia.
I have been every year since, well, I can remember.
When I was younger, I would seriously ride every single ride and probably more than once.
Even when I go now I have to ride at least one ride.
While I am on that ride I try not to think about the fact that this metal contraption is probably held together by one measly little pin.
Because, hey, we all have to live a little dangerously once in a while.
My absolute favorite ride is the ferris wheel.
I always hope that my seat will be the one that stops at the top.

Then there is the food.
Yummy, fried, could probably kill you, fair food.
A funnel cake, with extra powdered sugar, is a MUST every year.
Seriously, it is in the "fair" rule book.

{I did not get my phone out fast enough to get a pic of the whole funnel cake}

This year we lived on the edge and tried a fried Reese's cup.
I know!
It was...okay.
Not the best thing I have ever had but definitely not the worst.
But I think I will keep my Reese's out of the deep fryer.
Disclaimer: I was not the only person eating all of this. There were about 5 of us sharing it. Just so you know! :)

{sorry about the horrible pictures. they were taken with my cell phone.}
