singing in the rain

Sometimes a rainy day is an excuse to lay back, relax, curl up with a good book, and just enjoy a lazy day! While I have been trudging through mounds of schoolwork; I have been thinking of things I would rather be doing on this rainy day.
  • curl up w/ a good book, a cup of coffee, & visit another world
  • have a movie marathon...maybe Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter
  • bake cookies...my roomies would be very grateful
  • wander around a museum
  • make grilled cheese sammys and veggie soup...yummy
  • take a few snapshots of the storm & slick streets
  • take a long and uninterrupted nap
  • revel in the rain...put on rain boots, splash in puddles, & dance in the rain
  • get a massage...a perfect way to relax
What are some things you like to do on rainy days?

i<3 creed!

I am totally/over the moon/completely/super excited about Creed reuniting! {can you tell} It has been 6 long years without any new Creed music. Alter Bridge was good, but it just was not the same. I know A LOT of people hate Creed, but they were my absolute favorite band in high school. I cannot wait to get the new CD! Hopefully I will get to see them in concert when they are in Atlanta...{fingers-crossed}

down by the seashore

I would rather be at the beach today than buried under piles of schoolwork...
Here are a few of my beach pics...
It is the closest I will get to the beach today...

whistle while you work

This weekend was exhausting. I am finally completely moved in to my new apartment...YAY! Just to clarify; I HATE moving. If I had the finances I would just buy everything new, clothes and all. But I was so proud of myself; I had everything moved in AND unpacked in one day. Granted it was a really long Saturday but I slept very well knowing everything was done. I could not have done it without all of my friends' help. They worked tirelessly getting everything into the apartment. I received a gift certificate for an hour massage for my birthday and I am definitely taking advantage of that this week. Classes started today and I am relieved that I can focus on them and not worry about unpacking when I get home from work tonight!

welcome reception

The welcome reception I attended with the dean, director and my profs went very well. I decided to wear a simple [but professional] black dress. I always get really nervous and obsess way too much over any kind of networking event. I even made a couple of great connections! Two of the professors who specialize in my area of interest were really helpful. They even gave me an open invitation to their offices "just to chat"...YAY! I will definitely be taking advantage of those invitations. Can I say "great recommendation letters." I am starting a completely new field for me and I was super nervous about it, but after talking to several of the profs I am getting excited about it. I may have to work/study harder than I usually do but for the first time I think I am going to fit right into this world.

extortion

Classes start next week. So, yesterday I bought my books. I have just one word to say--EXTORTION! Textbook companies/school bookstores should be ashamed of their pricing. I bought 4 used books and my total was $436. I can buy some rare books for less than that. It is just ridiculous. And if I decide to sell them back to the school I will only get about $10-$15 a book (if I am lucky). Sorry, I just needed to rant a little bit. The beginning of every semester makes me just a little more mad. I should be used to it by now!

my first award!

YAY!!! Shanna at Brain Broadcast has given me my very first blog award! Thanks so much! I cannot believe people actually read my blog. I would like to pass this award on to some of my favorites:

what to wear???

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I just RSVPed (is that a word?) to a welcome reception for school. The dean and the director of the program are going to be there. So, now I am sitting at work trying to decide what to wear. I know it should be something business casual. But should I go with slacks and a button-up shirt or with a dress? I do not want to be too dressy but I do not want to be under dressed either. I really want to make a good impression, because my program is all about networking and connections. I am hoping to get a really good internship, and it would be great to have the dean and director as close connections. I know I am over-thinking this but I am crazy that way!

the big 25

Today is my 25th birthday! And the thing I am most excited about is my insurance rates going down. I know I am cheap I cannot help it. I do not really like to make a big deal out of my birthday. I would rather go out to supper with a few close friends than have a huge party. I am not center of attention material!

My best friend turned 25 last year and it started freaking her out that she was 5 years away from 30. I do not have that kind of problem getting older (so far). I am actually looking forward to my 30s. I will be finished with school and I will finally have a career. So I was wondering, what age really freaked you out and why?

georgia on my mind

I have NEVER been so glad to see Georgia before in my life. The trip was very interesting. We had trailer problems, bad weather, truck issues and bad traffic[a 14 hr trip took us 28 hrs]. But overall it was an adventure. My friends and I kept an open mind and tried not to let all of the problems get to us and tried to just take it as it came. So we stayed calm and used every ounce of patience we had!

When we crossed the Georgia border, we all were SO happy until we got to Atlanta. The traffic was crazy and we still had 4 hours to drive. I think that was when our patience was tried the most. It took us an hour to get through Atlanta...UGH!

Thankfully we made it safely. In Indianapolis we passed a really bad wreck. There were 10-15 fire trucks and about that many police cars; and only one vehicle was involved. I could not even tell what kind of vehicle it was, it just looked like a tangle of metal. I was praying the entire time we could see the lights of the emergency vehicles for the people in that car. We also saw 4 or 5 more wrecks. I do not know what was going on this weekend. So I am very thankful we were safe.

On a side note, I start my old job back tomorrow. I will be so glad to be getting a paycheck again! I hope everyone has had a great weekend!
