a little thing called...professionalism

What happened to professionalism?
Did they stop handing that out with realty degrees?

My current roomies, aka the two best friends sisters EVER, and I have decided to rent a house in August. We are just tired of living in an apartment complex full of crazy college kids. We do not drink or party and we go to bed at a reasonable hour because we work for a living. So, the music so loud the actual lyrics are crystal clear throughout our entire apartment until 3am and the drunken parties every other night of the week are getting a LITTLE old.

We made an appointment with a local real estate company to view 3 available houses. We decided to use this company because they were signing leases for August now. Which is a good thing, right?!

First, the lady is 20 minutes late to the first house. Then she does not "show" us any of the properties. She just kind of wanders around saying "oh yeah, this is the living room."
Really, we did not know that, how could you tell?!
She had never even been inside 2 of the 3 houses we looked at today! She also made the comment several times, "we really want to place a family in this house." She basically had the attitude that we were typical college kids and were willing to live anywhere, so she did not have to make an effort AT ALL.

Attitudes like that just piss me off. I am a grad student, A* is graduating from grad school in May {so techinically she will not be a college student in August}, and M* is a junior in college. A* & M* are sisters and A* & I have been best friends since we were 10 years old. We are family. Not just 3 kids who want to party and trash a house that does not belong to us. I know that I live in a college town and need to expect a certain amount of this kind of thinking. But I already have 2 degrees and I am in no way typical.
Needless to say, they lost 3 clients today.

I will have to tell you about the 3 houses another time.
Let's just say...
IT. WAS. RIDICULOUS.

  1. God's got a place...just trust in Him to show it to you when the time is right.

Judgment sucks. I'm sorry you had to experience that.

  2. That's awful! People like that disgust me. We had a great experience with our realtor, but then again, we were engaged and looking for our first house ~ before that I always lived in horrible basement suites or apartment buildings in less than stellar neighbourhoods!

  4. Geez. Sounds like she was judging you for being college students. You can always go with a different realtor or company - and tell this company exactly why! Your money is every bit as good as someone else's.

  5. I hate it when people judge you before they even know your situation. I'm sorry you had such a crappy experience!
