weekend update

D and I have been thoroughly enjoying the great weather we have right now!
The way GA's weather changes this time of year,
we have to enjoy it when we can.

GSU's baseball season started last week.
Baseball is my very favorite sport.
Attending games is one of my favorite parts about living in a college town.

The Art Department had their annual Empty Bowl Project last week.
Art students paint bowls and they can be purchased for $10 and you get the bowl and a chili lunch.
All proceeds go to the local food bank.
Another perk of a college town, cheap art/crafts!

D and I went cycling everyday this past weekend.
We usually go between 5:30-6 in the evenings
and the sun is setting by the time we finish.
Such a great way to end a day!
D also gave me my first tennis lesson on Sunday.
Y'all should feel very sorry for him!
Even though, he said that I did really well for my first time playing.
But he could have just been saying that because he is a stellar boyfriend!

I got some super exciting news from my brother ...
I am going to be an Aunt again and he is going to be a Daddy for the first time!!
I absolutely adore my nieces and nephews and cannot wait to add one more to love!
First pic of the new peanut!
I never can see anything in these ultrasound pictures ;)

Valentine's Weekend

Rose from D
This past week and weekend have been crazy busy.
To start things off I had two snow/ice days off from work.
The weather got pretty bad here Wednesday.
The 'Boro only got ice, no snow.
But that meant my apartment was out of power for nine hours Wednesday.
I was lucky though, some people were out of power for a few days.

However, I was freaking out a little bit.
I was expecting my first out-of-town guests, in my new apartment, to arrive on Thursday.
And not having power would have put a LITTLE hitch into my plans.
But, luckily, my power was restored Wednesday night and Isa, Lincoln, and baby Luke had plenty of heat and water on their visit!

The reason I had guests this past weekend is D was in a play for our local community theater.
The musical was called Heartbreaks and Hallelujahs and ran
Feb 13 - Feb 15.
D did such an awesome job!!
I know as his girlfriend, I may be a little biased.
But everyone else, including complete strangers, raved about how well he did.
In my opinion, he stole the show!
Friday night, my friends and I attended the play and it was the perfect way to spend Valentine's Day.
The theater served champagne at intermission and one of the local florists gave a rose to all the ladies in attendance.

I had such a great time with Isa and Lincoln on their visit.
Isa and I have been friends for about 13 years and I helped plan/coordinate her wedding.
Wedding posts ... {1,2,3,4}
Luke is such a happy baby and such a trooper.
He made it through D's play like a champ Friday night.
I loved getting a good dose of baby snuggles this weekend.
They went home Saturday afternoon in order to get Luke back on his schedule after the busy weekend.
Luke shopped 'til he dropped!
Saturday night I went back to see D's play again.
Yes, it was that good!
His family was there that night as well to see him and they all loved the play.

D and I were both exhausted after the play and hosting guests.
So, we slept late Sunday and cooked a nice brunch.
It was nice to just relax Sunday!
Sunday Brunch ...
{french toast, eggs, bacon, & cheese grits}

weekend update

This weekend was pretty boring on the blog front.
I was in hurry up and unpack ALL OF THE BOXES mode.
I have friends coming to stay with me this week
and as of Friday I still had more than half of my stuff in boxes,
in the living room.
I am happy to report that everything has been unpacked and put in it's correct place for now.
I still have a few last minute touches to finish ...
mostly decorating things.

The most exciting thing that happened was our Avett Brothers tickets arrived.
I am beyond excited to see them in concert!

sponsor overload

I know I am not the best, nor most consistent,
blogger in the world.
And I am not trying to criticize other bloggers.
I am definitely in the "to each his own" camp.
But I have noticed an uptick in the sponsored posts
in the blog world.
Maybe it is just the blogs I read.

I understand wanting to make a little money off of blogging.
I will never make 10¢ off blogging.
That is not one of my goals either.
But when every single post is a "sponsored" post.
I get a little bored.
And honestly start skimming that blogger's posts in the future.

I like many different kinds of blogs ...
lifestyle, photography, food, etc.
Heck, I even like "mommy" blogs and I have no children.
I love reading about other people's lives.
I love reading about our differences and love when I find things in common with complete strangers.
And I really do not mind sponsored posts, a lot of times I find some good products or ideas from those posts.
But I still want to see the normal posts as well.
If that makes any sense!

I know, I know.
The easy fix is to stop reading those particular blogs.
And I have done that occasionally.
But I always feel bad when I do.
I start following blogs for a reason and it always makes me a little sad to stop reading someone I once found interesting.

I know this is rambling all over the place.
And I am not meaning to criticize or offend anyone.
It was just something I have noticed quite often lately.

snow days & moving days

I know it is old news now,
but last week it snowed in Georgia!
And I am terribly grateful that I do not live in Atlanta.

Tuesday the university closed at Noon
and we had all day Wednesday off as Snow days.
Yay for a day and a half off work!

Remember me mentioning that I was moving into a new apartment this weekend?
Well, since I got off work early Tuesday ...
and so did most of my friends ...
I thought it was a brilliant idea to move all of my stuff Tuesday,
in the freezing rain, instead of Saturday when it was 60°.

I know, I know ... I am a genius!

Good news!
I got all of my stuff moved in 3 hours.
Bad news!
I owe all of my friends, big time.
If I even still have friends. ;)

A small sampling of the boxes
the only place to sit in the apartment at that time!
Oh, and about that snow day.
My little city did not really get any snow.
We got just a small dusting Wednesday morning that had pretty much melted by 10am.
We did get quite a bit of ice though.
ice

lots and lots of ice

proof it snowed

look really close & you'll see more snow
I was so jealous of everyone's snow pictures on Facebook!
My sister and Aunt sent me snow pictures from the farm ... that is 250 miles south of me!

In other apartment related news, I have gotten a lot of stuff unpacked and put in it's proper place.
Not that you can tell by the amount of boxes left to be unpacked.
I do have 2 rooms completely finished, my bathroom and my library.
Priorities, people!

I seem to be cursed with small bathrooms.
The past 3 places I have lived have had tiny bathrooms and I have had to come up with creative storage solutions.
I love one of the solutions I came up with for the new apartment ... hanging crates.

D and I found these handmade crates at a local antique store.
I just love them! And they are the perfect place for towels & wash rags.
D had racked up a ton of brownie points over the last week.
I know he is more ready than I am for my apartment to be completely unpacked!
