blah

I am just in a blah mood today!

In order to get out of this funk,
I have been working on  my travel wishlist.
I have been dreaming about traveling to other places
since I was about 10 years old so the list is pretty long.

But here are a few of the places that are on my dream list!

Ireland

Israel

Australia

Greece

London

Rome

ultimate timewasters

I saw the following graphic on this blog post this morning
and it made me think about all of the ways I waste time.

Now that the semester is in full swing
I find that I waste A LOT of time not doing my school work.

Every semester I vow to not procrastinate.
I did not make that vow this semester.
My reasoning is that
I have made it to my last semester in grad school successfully
and procrastination has not hurt me one bit!

However, it is funny that so far I have finished all of my assignments early
in the one semester of my entire college career
that I have not started out worrying about procrastination.
We'll see how long that lasts!

Here are a few ways that I waste time:

playing bejeweld blitz on facebook

blogging
not necessarly writing blogs
because I am a horribly inconsistent blogger
but I love reading blogs & finding new blogs to read

online window shopping

checking facebook & twitter
reading email

reading a fun book
instead of my textbooks

browsing amazon

This list could probably go on forever,
{I find new ways to procrastinate everyday}
but I will stop here!

What is your preferred method of procrastination?

southern pride!

Georgia Southern University has been named the fourth most popular university in the country by U.S. News and World Report.  Georgia Southern joins Harvard University, Stanford University, and others in the rankings that feature the Top 20 most popular universities.

Georgia Southern was ranked as the fourth most popular university in the country behind Brigham Young, Harvard and Stanford Universities and came in ahead of Ivy League schools Princeton and Yale. Georgia Southern University was the only school in the state of Georgia and one of only three in the southeast to make the list.
I just needed to brag a little bit on my alma mater!
I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at GSU.
However, May and graduation CANNOT get here soon enough.
Only 105 days to go;)

the fun theory

There is a set of stairs, with a moving escalator next to it .... both of which lead to the same spot on the floor of the upper level.
At first no one took the stairs, almost 97% of the people took the escalator.
Okay.
I think that could be a normal expected result.
Then a group of engineers got together, and decided they wanted to change the percentage around.
Notice what these scientists did.
Clever huh.
And now they have reversed the percentages, as a whopping 66% more people take the stairs, than ride the escalator.

extreme couponing

{via}

One of my friends talked me into going to a couponing workshop at the university last night.
I am glad she did because I actually learned a lot of ways to save money!
And who doesn't want to save money?!
Here is my bullet point version of the session.
  • Learn sales cycles and stock up
  • The bigger the city the better the coupons in the Sunday paper
  • Focus on BOGO coupons/sales
  • Use highest value coupons first
  • Have an organization system
  • Many grocery stores will double your coupons
  • You can use both a manufacturer's coupon & store coupon together
  • Great sites for printable coupons:
  • smartsource.com; redplum.com; coupons.com
This list does not even scratch the surface.
I am still processing the majority of the info.
There was a TON of information packed into 2.5 hours.
I swear some of it sounded like Jedi mind tricks!
It is actually possible to walk into a store, purchase what you need, and not actually pay anything AT ALL!
Amazing!

Everybody should definitely check out the Southern Savers website here.

On another note, Holly over at A Few of My Favorite Things is hosting a fabulous giveaway!
So, make sure you go check it out.

Also, thanks so much for all of the kind comments yesterday!
The day ended much better than it started :)

what a day

Oy!
I would like a do over.
Today has been a LITTLE bit crazy.

When I started to leave for work this morning,
I realized that I had a flat tire.
Not really a big deal.
I had to learn how to change a flat tire before I could get my drivers license.
So, I called my boss and told her I was going to be late.
Luckily, she told me to just take the morning off!

I get the car up on the jack with no problems.
But then I could not get the stupid lug nuts off.
I know air compressors make life easier for mechanics but it makes it nearly impossible to remove them by hand.
I literally tried for 15 minutes to get the lugs off.
Finally, I admitted defeat gave up and called a guy from work to come help me.
Of course, with one twist he gets them off.
I totally loosened them up for him;)
Then we find out my spare tire is flat as well.
It did have enough air in it to get to the nearest gas station.
Thank Jesus!
I finally get to the tire place and get my tire fixed.
Luckily, they were able to plug the hole and
it only cost me $15!

I know having a flat tire is not the end of the world.
But it sure is a crappy way to start the week.
Hopefully, your Monday was a little better than mine!

globe wishlist

I want to get a globe to put in my library.
A big antique one.
The only problem is all of the ones I have found are insanely expensive.
But a girl can dream, right?!

AI

I have been sucked into the madness!
I have not watched American Idol since the first season.
Reality shows typically are not my cup of tea.

However, Aerosmith is one of my all time favorite bands.
And I actually like Jennifer Lopez.
{I even like most of her cheesy rom-coms}
So, I decided to check out the first episode of AI.
And it sucked me right in.

There was a couple of contestants over the two nights that I am rooting for and I really want them to do well.
Especially, the girl who auditioned last in New Orleans.
Which means that I now have to watch to see if they make it through Hollywood.
Those sneaky tv producers sure know what they are doing!

Is anyone else watching this season?

last first day

Today is my last first day of school!
{at least for now}

I am so ready to graduate in May.
I only have 3 classes to complete and I will officially have my Master's degree.
Most of the time I feel like I have been in school FOREVER
but other times it seems like the past two years have flown by.

I am now seriously focusing on the job hunt.
I am getting my resume done and once it is ready I will be sending it out everywhere.
If I get offered a job in Timbuktu then I am moving to Timbuktu!

But right now I am just reveling in the fact that I will never have to worry about another first day of school ever again.
Until I start a doctorate program;)

golden globes fashion

Did anyone else think this year's show was just boring?
Luckily, I dvr'd it so I just fast-forwarded to see who won.
However, there were some great dresses!
Here are my favorites of the night.

What was your favorite look of the night?

Delurker Day!

Thanks to JG's post over at Me and My Soldierman
I now know that today is
International Delurker Day!

A lurker is someone who reads a blog but does not comment.
I am super bad about doing this myself!

So, today I am asking all of my lurkers to say "Hello!"
And I am going to try to comment on blogs I usually do not today as well!

Happy Friday!

This is what happens when it snows in Georgia!

The GA DOT has everything under control!

One of my FB friends shared a link to this picture.
And I HAD to share it with y'all.
It is just too funny!

i ♥ my bestie!

My best friend is super talented!
As she says, she dabbles in painting and drawing.
However, she does way more than dabble.
Right now, she is sketching her way through my Doctor Seuss books.
I am definitely going to frame several of them to hang in our library!

I have been badgering asking her for years to paint me something to hang above my bed.
Consistently her answer was, "no, I am not good enough."
Psh...whatever.
She finally caved!
Yeah I have awesome powers of persuasion ;)

She threatened death if I shared the finished product on my blog.
So, if this is my last post...you know why!

My ACS original:

And this is some of her other work!
She is going to think of a VERY creative way to kill me.

BTW, it is difficult to take a good photograph of a picture.
